About the firm
Shields Harney was formed in 1998 by John Shields and Greg Harney. They both left large firms with a vision to join forces and better serve their clients with a personal, results-focused approach. Andrew Morrison joined the firm as an articled student at its inception and has worked with Greg and John ever since. The firm continues to recruit energetic, motivated, and bright lawyers who share our vision to provide high-quality service to clients.
Our lawyers are experienced trial and appellate lawyers who have litigated prominent commercial, real estate, banking, franchise and intellectual property cases. Although our lawyers are among the most prolific courtroom lawyers in B.C., we frequently mediate and arbitrate disputes when doing so is in the best interest of our client. Our goal is to solve our clients' problems efficiently and effectively.
Widely acknowledged as skillful, assertive and tenacious trial lawyers, our lawyers are frequently selected to teach courses on advocacy and evidence to other lawyers and have published articles on litigation and business law.
Our lawyers have flexible billing practices and may accept matters on a fixed fee or contingency fee basis rather than the traditional adherence to charging an hourly rate. We believe our fees should reflect our success, not merely the number of hours we spend resolving a matter.
